Badger Football Family Fun Day

Soon Hillary heads back to school and the weather is slowly starting to turn. This means football season is upon us. It also means it is time for the Badger Football Family Fun Day at Camp Randall.
Grady and Audra check out all the fans and players while waiting to see...
...Bucky!
Hello, Bucky.
Bucky wants to hug it out.
So does Grady.
Grady and Bucky go way back.
Audra wasn't as excited to see Bucky so momma had to hold her.
Audra did want to play on the field. Here she demonstrates her ability to hit a hole.
Here she demonstrates the proper technique to stay low when tackling.
Audra takes direction from her offensive coordinator.
Here she gets her defensive assignment.
A past Badger with her little future Badgers
Welcome to Camp Randall Stadium where your University of Wisconsin Badgers led by Freshman Grady Lobenstein are playing for a Big Ten Division championship.
Grady continues to work on his punting dreams.
Badgers down by 6 with 4 minutes left in the game.
The ball is snapped, hand off to Lobenstein, looks for daylight off the right guard.
Lobenstein hits the hole and has no one in front him.
Touchdown Wisconsin!
Grady is back to attempt the extra point and give the Badgers the lead. The kick is good!
Now the Badgers are on defense and on 4th down the Badgers have to make a stop so Grady is playing Linebacker.Grady launches into the ball carrier with a vicious hit.

Summer Vacation in the Dells

Our Family Vacation continued with a trip to the Wisconsin Dells. It has become a sort of tradition to spend a couple days checking out all there is to see. Frankly we could spend weeks up there and not see everything. Here are just a few of the highlights.
Audra packed herself for ride. Actually she loves to climb into Brooks kennel, even more so than Brooks. This time we stayed at Baker's Sunset Resort on Lake Delton. Here is a picture from our room. The place was perfect, in addition to the lake there was two outdoor pool areas and an indoor pool. Grady learned to play hing hong (Ping Pong) on the outdoor table.
Audra enjoyed lunch at Buffalo Phil's where toy trains delivered your food.
Grady brushed a Dragon's Teeth.
Here we are along the Dells Riverwalk.
For Breakfast we dined at Paul Bunyan's and Audra wore another funny hat along with Mom.
Later that morning we took a ride on the Riverside Great Northern miniature railroad.
Grady smiles at all his new friends at the Deer Park.
Grady checks out the velvet on this buck.
Riding the Original Dells Ducks on the Wisconsin River.
An island in the Wisconsin River.
The weather could not have been more perfect.
Audra demands another goofy hat, but the House of Embers could only provide good food.
Then we headed to North Freedom to take a ride on the Mid-Continent Railroad. It was Steam Train Days.
All Aboard! Grady looks out the window at another train as we head out on our ride.
Grady and Mom check out the caboose.
Audra found another funny hat.
On our way home we visited Devil's Lake State Park.
Grady gets a hand from Mom. His diaper was weighing him down.
Grady shows off the latest hiking fashions.

Summer Family Vacation 2011

Every summer we try to take a week long family vacation. We kicked it off this year with a trip to Green Bay to visit our friends the Oelklaus family and a visit to Lambeau Field for Packer Family Night.
Grady points the way to Lambeau Field home of the World Champion Green Bay Packers
The view from our seats. Notice the Brewer game on the TV!
Due to the lockout family night wasn't a full scrimmage. But it sure was fun watching the Super Bowl Champs at Lambeau.
Jordy Nelson would make the catch and follow it with the first Lambeau Leap of the 2011 season.
Unfortunately the night was cut short by a big rain and wind storm.
When I took this picture I couldn't help but hope he was thinking about playing football down there for the Packers. The more I watched him I was certain he was thinking about playing, playing in the puddles!
The rain won't get Mom and Audra down, they have ice cream!
Family Night wraps up with a fireworks display over Lambeau Field
A fun way to end the evening.
Despite the rain I think everyone had a good time.
We are looking forward to our next trip back to Green Bay.
Thank you to our hosts Neil, Michelle and Henry. We hope to see you soon.
