It's raining dippin dots!

Two days ago, I was talking into our gym. A child in front of me was commenting on the crazy weather. She stated, "it's raining dippin dots." This made me laugh out loud.

Because of those dippin dots and the cold weather that they bring, we were off yesterday. It was a blissful day to have tons of time to myself. Today, we're back at school.

Sigh...

A Christmas Miracle

I thought it would be a lovely day to write my second post because "A Christmas Miracle" occurred today. Yes, a Christmas miracle in January. I woke up at 5:20 am this morning with great hope that today would be a snow day. Technically, it's a cold day today because we have sub-zero temperatures with even colder wind chill temperatures.

I got onto our school's website, and it was with great joy to find out that our school was cancelled for the day. As my good friend and colleague, Natalie, calls it, "A Christmas Miracle."

So, here's a run down of what I've done so far with my day off of school...
1. Got a pot roast, carrots, and potatoes into the crock pot for tonight's dinner
2. Made snickerdoodle cookies using a recipe from my Great Aunt Lenore
3. Made Ryan's favorite blueberry muffins
4. Did all of the dishes from my cooking extravanganza
5. Spiffed up the kitchen
6. Cleaned the bathroom downstairs
7. Laundry
8. Played ball with Brooks (racquetballs are his favorite)
9. Did all of the little things on my list: renewing my passport, emailing our wedding photographer, checking my minutes on my cell phone

And what is next?
1. Brooks will be visiting his dog-spa for a pet-i-cure (that's my mother's joke for having his nails trimmed) and a hair cut around his face.
2. I'm going to city hall to get a dog license for 2008 for Brooksey.
3. I'm going to the gym to exercise.
4. I would like to read my book, work on grad school homework, and stamp some cards.

As Natalie and I agreed during our last snow day, having an unexpected day off of school is even better than Christmas. I promise I will zip up my coat and wear my boots outside!

Our First Entry

After much debate, we finally decided on Brooks Street as our blog web address. Our beloved cairn terrier, Brooks, was named after this street.
