Audra's Surgery

Today Audra underwent surgery at American Family Children's Hospital in Madison. The surgery was to remove a small birth defect. She was born with a branchial cleft cyst in her neck. Basically it is a small hole in her neck. Here is more info about what it is exactly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Branchial_cleft_cyst
While she was under they also put tubes in her ears. The surgery was a success. However she was a little sick tonight and the medical staff chose to keep her overnight. We are looking forward to getting her home. Here are some pictures from after we checked in and before she went in for surgery.
UPDATE: 6/23 At 10am Audra and Mom are on their way home.
Even hospital gowns for children are drafty.
In the children's wing they have a playroom complete with a medical bed for dolls.

Father's Day Weekend

A tradition continued when we joined Grandpa and Grandma Phelps at the Jefferson Co Dairy Breakfast.
Grandpa Randy gets a hand with his Father's Day gift. Grady "helped" Grandpa by opening the present before we even left home. Scotch tape helped in the re-wrapping.
Happy Father's Day Randy
Grandma Barb and Audra sharing some farm fresh eggs and cheese.
Mommy and Grady shared lots of chocolate milk.
Cheesy Cheese!

The kids both were very into the trains on display.
Grady ran back and forth 50+ times between the two train tables.
Looks like we have another huge train fan.
Checking out the cows with Grandpa and Grandma.

Bye from the farm, see you next June!
Back at home Audra and Daddy worked on Audra's batting stance and practiced hitting curve balls.
Grady was not happy that Audra learned to hit the curve, especially when she lined it off his shin.
Audra the Artist
Audra all by herself crawled and stood up and started drawing. Maybe she takes after her Great Aunt Joanne.
Now you don't this too often. Saturday afternoon a school bus pulled up outside. Apparently the neighbor across the street was hosting a bachelorette party. Grady decided to check it all out while not wearing any pants. I think the girls across were appreciative of the pre-party entertainment.
For Father's Day I was treated to a trip to the newly remodeled Madison Mallard's Duck Pond.
I am pretty darn fortunate to be a Dad/Husband to these 3.
Even when the rains came...
they stuck it out.
The game was fun, Grady predicted a home run. And the park is very nice.
Grady and Audra also enjoyed the fun mascots.
But what mattered most, was getting to spend time with my Audra.
And my little slugger Grady.
Thank you Hillary for a super fun day. Thank you to Grady and Audra for making me a very lucky Dad!

Your First Place Milwaukee Brewers

Sunday we had the opportunity to head back to Miller Park and Ryan's Cousin Dave joined us.
Grady always talks about going to Brewer Games with Dave and he was very happy to go again.
Audra and Mommy
Audra was a great fan. She behaved well the whole game and loved to clap and yell the entire time. She made it all 9 innings again.
Audra and Daddy
The Brewers won with yet another Prince Fielder Homer! The win would put them in first place over the Cardinals.
