Happy Mother's Day

Hillary wanted to go the GiGi's Cupcakes as part of her special day.
Grady enjoys his cupcake. Recently Grady has started calling Hillary by her name and not Momma. On a morning earlier in the week Grady greeted her with, "Hello Hillary." She responded back, "Hello Grady. What is my name?" He replied, "Hello Grumpy!"
Audra was featured in the Mother's Day gift the children gave Hillary. A 16x20 canvas print of this picture

Happy Mother's Day to you! We love you Grumpy!

Grandma Donna

On Sunday we attended a Celebration for Donna. Donna is Luke's Grandma and she lost her battle with cancer. It was her wish that she be remembered this way.
Luke greets his favorite little cousin.
The boys showed Audra how the swings work.

Grandma helped out with lunch for the kids.

Cousin Luke was very happy and told me that "everyone" was coming. He was pretty accurate because it sure seemed that way. We will miss you Grandma Donna.

Grand Opening of Gas Light Field

Saturday afternoon was the Grand Opening of Gas Light Field.
I decided to mow a ball field in the back yard to help Grady understand the bases.
Normally he hits (always Home runs) and then runs around from our yard to the neighbors and back.
Grady throws out the first pitch.

Audra's range is limited but she makes up for it with heart.

Our Funny Little Man

Grady's amusing sense of humor has come to fruition. He has recently taken to calling me, "Hillary." Here is our conversation that goes on a few times each day:

Grady: "Hi Hillary!"
Hillary: "What did you call me?"
Grady: "Hi Grumpy!" (snicker, giggle, giggle)

Grady does have an affinity for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. And Ryan has vowed he did not teach Grady to say this.

Flowers for Mom

Grady does his best Bambi impression. He loved the topiary deer at the greenhouse. He kept calling the deer, Bambi.

Our devious dirt-digging, flower-planting boy!

Originally, Grady and I were going to the greenhouse with Auntie Ashley to plant Grandma Hoy's Mother's Day present. We also scheduled dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Phelps and Auntie Ashley for the same night. So, we let Grandma Hoy "in" on the plans. Grandma said, "it would be just as much of a present to go do the activity with Grady as it would be to receive the pretty potted pansies for Mother's Day." Grandma was right! Grady was a bundle of energy and amusement at the greenhouse. Grady ran around the rows and rows of flowers. He dumped dirt on the ground. He had fun putting dirt in the pots. He picked out flowers for Grandma. But most of all, he like sweeping....

We got a big kick out of Grady sweeping all of the dirt. Perhaps we should refer to this activity as the opposite of sweeping. He wasn't making a smaller pile; he was spreading the dirt around more. Grandma Hoy thought Great Grandma Evelyn was present in spirit--Grandma Evelyn was an expert and incessant sweeper. ( Mom even called Grady, "Ashley," at one point. Grandma would always call us the wrong name. ) I have memories of her sweeping the kitchen floor, front steps, sidewalk, and driveway. Now, we just have to work on getting him to sweep the dirt into a smaller pile.
